Tig Torch Welding

Jun 25, 2011

tig and stick welding question?

I understand use a tig torch to simply warm up metal to bend it, without needing to make use of a blow torch. But let’s say I do not possess a tig torch, can one just clamp a tungsten electrode into stick welder and then try to strike an arc by using it to warmth the metal?

No. The tungsten will quickly oxidize and melt with no protective argon shielding gas. You’ll have just wasted a $10 tungsten.

Request anybody with a little of TIG experience what goes on whenever you forget to show the argon bottle on……
