Mig Tig Welding

Jul 19, 2011

Are MIG and TIG welding, types of arc welding? Also what’s the distinction between electric and oxy acetylene?

Essentially I wish to understand what sub heading mig and tig welding come under. Someone recomended which i use arc welding rather than mig/tig however i was of the opinion that mig or tig are generally types of arc welding?

mig and tig are arc welding, but traditional arc welding is performed having a welding fishing rod, that has flux about the fishing rod. Mig utilizes a gas along with a spool of wire, tig utilizes a tungsten fishing rod and it is done a lot more like oxy-acetylene. Oxy acetyleneis strictly gas welding, that is basicly melting the metals together
